PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

The rediscovery of Verdi's youth is quite recent. Only two major editions of this opera exist: the first is the Philips recording from the 1970s, recorded by Gardelli (Attila: Ruggero Raimondi), and the second is the one recorded by EMI in the 1990s, conducted by Muti (Attila: Samuel Ramey). This live version, with its excellent audio quality, is particularly important for being Boris Christoff's only performance as Attila, with Gastone Limarilli and Margherita Roberti as Foresto and Odabella. Its historical significance lies in the presence of baritone Giangiacomo Guelfi, whose interpretation of Ezio is one of the most impressive ever recorded.
