In this live album, Kirill Kondrashin passionately conducts the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra in two of Tchaikovsky's finest orchestral works. The "Serenade for Strings," Op. 48, opens the program with elegance and warmth, alternating between classical exuberance and poignant lyricism. The second half is devoted to the "Suite for Orchestra No. 3," Op. 55, a lesser-performed work yet one of remarkable timbral richness, culminating in the brilliant "Theme with Variations."
