La Sinfonia n. 2 “Resurrezione” di Mahler prende forma sotto la guida di Eugene Ormandy con la Philadelphia Orchestra, in una lettura che alterna vastità orchestrale e fraseggio intimo. Il climax corale è affidato a Evelyn Mandac, soprano, e Birgit Finnilä, contralto, accompagnate dal coro Singing City Choirs; insieme costruiscono un passaggio finale di grande slancio spirituale. Ormandy privilegia chiarezza dei piani sonori e controllo dinamico, esaltando i contrasti emotivi dell’opera e sfumature orchestrali raffinate.
