LEONTYNE PRICE – RICHARD TUCKER – PHILIP MAERO
Rome Opera Orchestra and Chorus – 1962
ERICH LEINSDORF
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
This famous version of Madame Butterfly It has always been an evergreen in the discography. The collaboration between Leontyne Price and Erich Leinsdorf was excellent, and their interpretation of Puccini's music transcended the usual perspective of Italian conductors of the time. Price, in temperament and psychology, was always closer to the role of Tosca, yet she was one of the most important Butterfly singers, along with Tebaldi and Scotto. Not to be forgotten was the presence of the greatest American tenor of the time, Richard Tucker.
