It’s easy to say Classical Music...
Today more than ever people have a genuine anxiety arising from the need to catalog things, actions, thoughts in a clear and unambiguous way. Once a famous retailer specialized in the sale of records told me that he must know immediately and without hesitation to which genre each disc he sells belongs, because trivially he must know on which shelf to put it... why the public needs to know what they are buying.
It is no coincidence that I stressed the verb "must"; and forgive me if my action of critical thinking is inevitable, but... why "must" know? Because perhaps the ability to think with one’s own head, to independently create categories of knowledge has now become too revolutionary an act for a modern Western society now slave to the rules of control at all costs, of the moralistic targeting of human beings by a power that is oppressive and increasingly aimed at the domination of its subjects, rather than at the service of citizens.
And in this context here is that you can not leave anything to chance, much less the ability to think independently within "dangerously" cultural content, as it is precisely also music.
The definition of "classical music" has therefore been associated with a whole series of conventional stylisms, typically referring to the music of the past that has been handed down as "classical" by the usual scholars and sages of the temple. But in reality, for example and from my point of view, "classical" can mean that music that draws inspiration, not forget, by those pages composed during the history of Humanity that have in themselves the sense of the absolute, or fall into absolute categories of value and beauty, who know how to transcend and overcome the course of time.
Therefore, the path of this album wants to propose a real concept summarizing these concepts just expressed. And then you will find a SIDE A that presents some of the most famous and celebrated pages of that classical music of the tradition that has rightfully set itself as definitive, overcoming and exorcising the possible oblivion of time. While in SIDE B you will find a significant selection of music written in the '900, or the "middle century", which has been able to grasp the synthesis of the past, mixing its native roots with the most different influences from the various cultural worlds that precisely in the twentieth century, Perhaps for the first time, they have been able to break down geographical barriers without forgetting the lessons of the past.
No doubt therefore, a little 'provocative but not too much, I did not want to title with the term "Classical" (after "Jazz" and "Blues") this third collection of the thirtieth anniversary of Velut Luna, but more simply "ORCHESTRA" a word that specifies, Deliberately, only the staff used to play this music.
And so it was, so it is and so it will be.
I dedicate this album to my dad, Adriano Lincetto.
