Marco Strano is one of the most significant Italian artists.
Musician and painter, for over twenty years he has been composing music and painting pictures of great interest: innovative in sounds and images, which have always coexisted in an indissoluble bond, as this latest work also demonstrates.
Marco Strano's musical territory of choice is jazz. A profound connoisseur of the fundamentals of Afro-American music par excellence, in this latest work he proposes a project entirely developed on pressing, metropolitan rhythms, a direct result of the pulsating and multi-ethnic atmosphere of a large metropolis: and New York is undoubtedly the place of the soul of Five Portraits.
Enclosed in the essential and fully exhaustive formation of the quartet, Marco Strano's saxophones interact in a perfect interplay with Bruno Cesselli's piano and keyboards, with Federico Malaman's double bass and electric bass and with Massimo Manzi's rocky drums: three undisputed champions of the international jazz scene.
