Notes

“Chopin & Schumann” is one of the new recordings that Velut Luna will soon present as a world premiere. Behind the apparently normal title lies an album that offers several new features. Two Italian musicians are the protagonists: the double bass player Orazio Ferrari and the pianist Marco Sanna perform, among other pieces, the Sonata for Cello and Piano in G minor op.65 by Fryderyk Chopin and the Adagio & Allegro in A flat major op.70 by Robert Schumann, two milestones of the cello repertoire. The novelty is represented by the performance of these very important chamber works in a new and unusual double bass guise, but faithful to the original, ambitious, but respectful of the text. Ambitious it is for the instrumental implications: performing these works on the double bass in the original key and at the same octave height, without resorting to artifices of any kind, represents the absolute novelty that this album wants to offer. A detailed booklet and the presence of “bonus tracks” complete this absolutely new project.
