The program recorded on this CD features music, including previously unreleased recordings, by twentieth-century and contemporary Bohemian composers, some internationally renowned, others lesser known beyond their own borders but nonetheless certainly worthy of recognition. Each piece—and each composer—authoritatively displays their own stylistic signature, poetics, and formal exploration; common elements across this group of composers are clarity of form and a distance from both the obsessive pursuit of dissonance and effect as an end in itself.
